The only way you can get a comfortable horse ride is by making the horse absolutely comfortable and looking for the ride! Naturally, the saddle has to be a perfect fit. This involves getting saddlepads that fit well too. The best of British wool is used that provide excellent protection to the horse’s back especially if it’s sensitive. There are numnahs that have been designed specifically for those occasions when you require riding your horse over a fairly long period and also if the horse has an especially sensitive back. How do you buy saddlepads or numnahs? These are classified in terms of their styles and sizes and their colors. The styles are classified under GP, Dressage or DR and WH or Working Hunter. The sizes on the other hand are classified under small, medium, large and extra large. Normally the numnahs are available in white, brown, black or gray colors.
The construction of saddlepads can be different. Thus you could buy a numnah with different colors for the quilt and the wool. The wool used could be the lightweight variety. A variant could be in wool that’s self-colored or use a half wool quilt good for covering the important pressure points. These products comprise of wool lining and thereby add to the comfort of both the rider and the horse. These numnahs are specifically designed to suit your individual horses that may or may not have high wither. These are crafted exquisitely and are lightweight. At all times it is ensured that the rider’s legs are in close contact with the horse.
Half numnahs are also available for your horses. These have wool on both the sides in order to ensure close contact of the rider’s legs with the horse besides providing cushion on the pressure points. Since these reduce saddle pressure, relief is provided to horses that suffer from tender backs. There are special HiWither single wool half numnahs that are both useful and versatile. These may be used on their own or with a HiWither pad. Though these half numnahs can work well with all Saddles, they work specially well with the close contact types.
